how to draw trees

18 August - 6 September 2017

“Drawing isn't like speaking. It's more like the thinking that happens before you speak.

Drawing is what I do to conjure ideas and plans for other art endeavours; like painting, printmaking and sculpture. The best drawing for me happens when the idea or thing is just out of reach, and the drawing becomes a bridge to visualise that idea in an unexpected way. I lose myself in the act of drawing, where as I find painting especially difficult.

'how to draw trees' is my attempt to add something a little different to the way we see and understand a familiar icon such as the Australian Eucalypt tree.”
