Great Australian Painting

Great Australian Painting sees a diverse cohort of artists brought together as a celebration of the dynamic nature of painting in Australia. Collected over many years as part of a rare collection, the works survey painting in Australia from the midcentury through to the present day.

The paintings encompass a wide variety of cultural frameworks, and material approaches – everything from the dot painting of Emily Kame Kngwarreye through to the energetic brushwork of Tony Tuckson. The authors of these exciting works are united in broadening our definition of painting, not only in Australia but abroad. Together, they shed light on some of Australia’s greatest contributions to painting.
