Zella Casey Brown
Zella Casey Brown is a multidisciplinary artist working across printmaking and photography. Her practice is grounded in the physical act of making, using the body as both an instrument and a site of inquiry. Through repetitive, tactile processes, she explores the space between conscious intention and autonomic response, considering how sensation, memory, instinct, and material can shape an image before it is fully understood.
The principle of shoshin, or ‘beginner’s mind’, informs her approach. By resisting the expectation of mastery, Casey Brown remains attentive to uncertainty and to the possibility of discovery within the process itself. Each work becomes an encounter with what cannot be entirely controlled: a negotiation between the conscious mind, the physical body, and the behaviour of materials.
Casey Brown holds a Master of Fine Art from the National Art School, Sydney, and previously studied Architecture at the University of Sydney.
